5 Items on Every College Student's Holiday Wishlist

Posted by Veronica O'Brien on

The Holiday shopping season is in full swing now that Thanksgiving has passed. Where did the time go this year? It seems that going back to an in-person world has also simultaneously sped up time. College students everywhere are hunkering down for one last push of studying for final exams, which means they’ll soon return home for a month with their families. College students are in a temporary period of life where they’re constantly strained for time, want comfort but are not tied down to a single location. Due to the unique position, they are in, coming up with gift ideas can be challenging. Moreover, shipping times are increasing, which means time is running out to order gifts online. Despite these challenges, fear not, we’ve compiled a list of items with quick shipping speeds so you can get your gift on time.

1. A subscription Service for Healthy Snacks

College students are known to lack sufficient diets (e.g., “Freshman Fifteen”), but going to college should not mean students have to sacrifice their health. A great gift idea is a one-year subscription to Thrive market, which will deliver a box full of healthy snacks to keep energized, full, and healthy.

2. A Sleepyhead Mattress Topper

Sleep deprivation is a chronic issue amongst the college student population due to late nights of social events or studying combined with an uncomfortable dorm room mattress. To combat these concerns, turn to Sleepyhead’s mattress toppers. They provide optimal comfort and have antimicrobial properties to help keep germs away. These are qualities that will help your college student sleep a bit easier at night.

3. A Laundry Hamper that Doubles as a Backpack

If there’s one thing I remember from my college days, it was the dread of lugging around a full hamper of laundry down three flights of stairs to the laundry room. It was even more of a pan when I had to lug the hamper to a laundromat elsewhere in town! Fast forward several years later, and companies have developed a laundry hamper that doubles as a backpack to make the challenge of lugging around an awkward bag of garments much easier. Your college student (and their arms) will thank you!

4. A Tool Set

Many times in college, I needed a Phillip’s screwdriver, measuring tape, or hammer, and there were none to be found. Everyone needs tools at some point, whether to hang pictures on the wall, put together furniture, or measure their space. A compact tool kit will be the lifesaver they never knew they needed.

5. Noise Cancelling Headphones

Dorms can get loud, which can be distracting when trying to study or write a paper. Sure, the library is an option, but now that it gets dark sooner and the temperatures are dropping, sometimes it feels nicer to get work done in the dorm. Help support your college student’s study habits in environments that may not be conducive to studying with noise-canceling headphones so they can block out the noise and focus on their work.
